Events in Viseu, boutique stays in the historic centre.

The second Dão de Portas Abertas, run by the CIM Viseu Dão Lafões with the backing of the Dão wine board and Turismo Centro de Portugal: eight estates open with programmes of their own in the middle of the grape harvest — tastings led by winemakers, tastings of the 2026 must, walks through vineyards and cellars, wine dinners, sunsets and live music.

Three open on 11 September: Palácio dos Condes de Anadia in Mangualde, Quinta da Boiça in Nelas and Ribeiro Santo in Carregal do Sal.

Five open on the 12th: Paço dos Cunhas & Casa de Santar and Quinta das Mestras in Santar, Pedra Cancela in Nelas, Taboadella in Sátão and Quinta de Lemos in Silgueiros, already within Viseu.

Each programme is booked separately, from €25 to €150, and the first edition sold out every experience. Doing both days without changing beds calls for a central base — which is what Bemyguest is.

Festival TRiP returns to Parque Linear do Rio Pavia for a day of free programming under the motto «Um Lugar de Encontros» (a place of encounters): puppetry, music, dance, contemporary circus, films for younger audiences and singer-songwriter sets, all in the same park.

The Cinema Insuflável opens at 11am and runs until 7pm; in between come Trupe Fandanga, Laurindinhas Libertam a Sua Voz and BLS City & Gira Sol Azul, and Sérgio Godinho closes the day with Filipe Raposo at 7pm. It has run since 2022 and entry is free.

Rock & Dão brings two days of concerts to Parque de Santiago in Viseu. Our houses are in the city centre — you walk home at the end of the night, with no traffic and no hunting for parking.

The Viseu Half Marathon returns for its 43rd edition, promoted by the Município de Viseu with Nativewarriors as technical organiser.

The start and the finish are at the Complexo Desportivo do Fontelo, at 9.40am, with 21K, 10K and 5K races, a youth race and a walk. Race-pack collection opens on the 19th, from 3pm to 8pm, and on the 20th, from 8am to 9.30am.

Clube novobanco has chosen Viseu for its 90th anniversary: a day at Parque do Fontelo bringing together members, families and friends from across the country, with teams formed by region, an athletics race and a walk. For those travelling in and staying the weekend, our houses are in the city centre, right by the Fontelo.

Viseu RockFest reaches its 11th edition with ten hours of music at Orfeão de Viseu. The line-up is headlined by the farewell show of Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench, alongside Acid Mammoth, Máquina, Miss Lava, Aneuma, Travo, Grievance, João Pedro e os Almendras and Overhated. For those travelling in, our houses are in central Viseu — no hunting for parking in the middle of the night.

FLIV — the Viseu International Literary Festival — opens from 7 to 11 October under the motto «Antes que seja tarde» (Before it is too late), run by Viseu city council. The historic centre of Viseu is the heart of the festival, which reaches other parts of the municipality, schools included.

More than a hundred events: debates, book presentations and launches, workshops, theatre, concerts, street performances, poetry sessions and exhibitions. Authors from Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Italy and Spain are confirmed, and Viseu's own authors have a guaranteed place. The full programme is announced closer to the festival.

The Book Fair opens earlier, on 2 October, together with the Junta de Freguesia de Viseu. Curation is by Paulo Alexandre Sousa Santos, who has programmed the FÓLIO festival in Óbidos, Luísa Antunes Paolinelli, a university lecturer, and Teresa Adão, writer, researcher and literary director of Edições Esgotadas.
