Feira de São Mateus 2026

The oldest free fair on the Iberian Peninsula, granted its charter by King João I in 1392, returns to Campo de Viriato for a month of concerts, food, funfair rides and market stalls.

When and where

The 634.ª edition runs from 6 August to 6 September 2026 at Campo de Viriato in Viseu — 31 days of live music on the main stage, restaurants, funfair, crafts, sport and the traditional free fair.

The grounds sit just north of the city centre, a short walk from the historic quarter. Traffic is restricted during the fair and parking near the grounds fills early, so staying in the centre means walking there and back.

Where to stay during the fair

Bemyguest has five houses in central Viseu, three of them in the historic quarter. Apartments and suites with kitchen or kitchenette, for couples, families and groups — plus a heated indoor pool at the Muralha building for the daytime hours before the fair opens.
